Case of M. Valdemar was pretty boring until the end when it FINALLY started to do something. The Black Cat was really good, but i did expect more cat.

It looks like a couple eps from The Tales From The Crypt, and I expected way more from well accepted masters of horror. First is Romero's part, and it was especially dull and unbelievable take on a zombie genre. Second part is way better and gorier. It's Argento we are talking about, after all. I was pleasantly surprised by Keitel, but the movie doesn't some close to the best giallo of Argento.

Out of both parts of this film, two short adaptations of Edgar Allen Poe stories, Argento's is the superior at least for his obsession with flashy cinematography and Harvey Keitel's presence as the lead (seeing these two working together was an amazing shock!). Both of them are not that great though, strange tales that feel like generic TV films were it not for the gore.

A very good effort from both Romero and Argento. I enjoyed Argento's segment much more but both were really great lil movies. It's really too bad these films don't get the attention they deserve. Sure it's not up to par with DotD or Suspiria but they're still great.

Argento and Keitel is a combination I would like to see more of. Also loved the Tom Savini cameo as Edgar Allen Poe!

"The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar" (Romero): Not noteworthily interesting, but pleasurable. "The Black Cat" (Argento): Original, attractive and obscene!

Slightly disappointing efforts from both Romero and Argento...long on atmosphere but tragically short on real horror and action. Argento's Black Cat segment is the stronger of the two.
