Bleargh. Like with other early shorts by filmmakers who later became famous (e.g. _The Big Shave_), you'd had to have been psychic to know in 1958 that Polanski would one day be hailed as one of the best directors in the world

Good cinematography, but the symbolism is very sledgehammer, and it's all over the place. Quite obviously a student film, and only a mediocre one.

Didn't care for the cat killing, and the young Polanski (as himself) beating someone up did not look convincing. Impressive cinematography though.
