Summary: The movie is a rockumentary, released in theaters in 1988 and on video in 1989. It was produced by Michael Hamlyn and directed by Phil Joanou. It incorporates live footage with studio outtakes and band interviews. The album is a hodgepodge of live material and new studio recordings that furthers the band's experimentation with American music styles and recognize many of their musical influences. It was produced by Jimmy Iovine and also released in 1988. (Wikipedia)

Not a great documentary. It is mostly live performance mixed with a few interviews or behind the scenes looks. If you like U2 a lot you should enjoy this.

Not much of a documentary. Probably close to 90% musical numbers and the other segments were not very interesting.

Extraordinarily unsatisfying rockumentary which shows, among other things, exactly what you may have suspected after hearing _The Joshua Tree_ and other albums of theirs -- that these guys have no sense of humor whatsoever. This movie had exactly the opposite effect intended -- I stopped being a U2 fan immediately after seeing it (and I saw it on the big screen, too)
