Samuel L. Jackson fucks this dude up for about an hour and a half. He's also smarter than everybody else. Very graphic and violent, but I thought it was pulled off really well and never dipped into that "eww cheesy" territory that other similar films do. Unrealistic for sure, but oh well. It's a movie that has the ability to polarize (as in, is he justified in doing what he's doing if it gets to the truth, which is a pertinent question), and you're left with a watchable flick to back that up.

quite suspensefull and gut-wrenching. makes an important point about extreme terrorism and how necessary it is to stop those fucks at any cost. I liked it, but the Carrie Ann Moss character really pissed me off. Sam Jackson of course, is awesome

Implying any drastic measure can be taken for safety instead of trying to solve problems in peaceful ways -or offering the other cheek, one may say- this one is a real menace. It was sad to see the great Mr. Jackson, and other fine players in such context. The makers of the movie may say that the whole point was to show and condemn the current shit but that's not what was accomplished here.

Very decent movie that gets more intensive by the second. Sometimes it looks quite cheap and some of the actors are not convincing in their roles, but Sheen and Jackson are, especially Sheen is really really good (no surprise here) and the script gets more drastic towards the end. Be sure to check out the unrated version in order to have more food for thoughts afterwards...

My university professors actually urged us to watch this movie to see how hard it can be in some situations to judge whether a person should be tortured or not. Good idea for a movie, this way the importance of the subject gets some notice.

"Unthinkable" seems implausible and borderline preposterous, but it's a thoroughly engrossing and stinging film while it plays out. The actors all do well, especially Michael Sheen and Samuel L. Jackson creating memorable characters. While it may be easy to dismiss this direct-to-DVD flick, it's actually 'Saw' for a crowd looking for a little bit of intelligence and social commentary in their gorefests, but beware--this is a tough watch.

The moral issues (torture, "the greater good" argument, consequentialism) are tackled head-on and heavyhanded, but it's not completely without merit. It's a thorny issue bound to evoke an ethical response ("i condone it!", "i don't condone it!") even if the movie itself ultimately takes the safe middle road known as "on the one hand, on the other hand". Moss is awful, Sheen is convincing in somewhat of a caricature role, Jackson is Jackson and everything is fairly well paced. Worth seiing.

It will hold your attention because of the storyline, if you can get past the fact that it's completely unrealistic and silly. Dialogue isn't particularly great; characters aren't fleshed out; and the acting is just okay. Straight to DVD makes sense.
