when steven segal isn't pumping hundreds of bad guys full of an unreasonable amount of lead, and defying the design of the pistol clip by shooting off hundreds of bullets without reloading, then you get to watch what passes as hand to hand combat, which is basically segal repeatedly kicking someone in the nuts, and/or breaking their fingers. congratulations, you have discovered the formula for sucking the entertainment out of killing people.
The worst car chase I have ever seen. It really, really looked like the cars were driving 20 to 30 miles an hour. It was really, really sad. But the rest of the movie was good.
The fight scenes aren't that bad to be honest, when compared to Seagal's other recent films. Without a doubt you'll only enjoy this if you're able to laugh at Seagal's trademark single expression which doesn't change throughout not only this movie but every movie he's been in. It's fantastic. Eddie Griffin can be good but a lot of his dialog just feels dragged out, I did like his "affirmative action" line which is stolen straight out of another one of his films: Undercover Brother.
Steven Seagal with Eddie Griffin as the villain. Those two reasons alone give one the notion of the quality of film Urban Justice is. In the late 80's and early 90's Seagal was a decent enough action star, but the years haven't been kind to him. He's obviously aging, but is still trying to make the films he made when he was in his 30's. Perhaps one day he'll try a more mature roll. Eddie Griffin doesn't add much to the film.
