Romeo and Juliet at the shopping mall. Not as bad as you might think, thanks to some solid acting and a few genuinely funny scenes.

Coolidge, who made a semi-autobiographical, semi-documentary film on rape, called _Not a Pretty Picture_, is a serious filmmaker. And one does not have to look hard to discern here a serious interest in social documentation. All this, in fact, is laid on a bit thick, and does not blend in with any very well-shaped or well-paced narrative episodes. But the problems with the narrative go deeper than mere clumsiness.

Featuring the great use of "I Melt With You" (in the finale).

great 80s, kinda gritty and funny!

Really charming movie that, unlike most teen films at the time, has a heart. The film makes a few minor missteps, but most of it rings true with a rather accurate portrait of teenage love. Features a performance by Nic Cage that makes you realize he was a promising actor at one point. It also happens to have one hell of a soundtrack.

I particularly enjoyed Cage's V shaped chest hair.

Entertaining early film from Coolidge. Nothing really special, but it features something you can't see anymore: a good performance from Nicolas Cage.
