Just like a sopa-opera...

Good chick picture. As the only American in the cast, Reese Witherspoon fits the role pretty well, and gives a better performance than you'd think

Beautiful costumes and sets, but the acting is average and the story wasn't really very new or interesting. Reese has been better in mainstream crap.

Amazingly good adaption of the classic love story with a good performance from Witherspoon.

I don't know if they wanted to make the new Gone With The Wind, or just a lame Sense&Sensibility war-mix. This movie is just below average no matter what, and in all departments. Bad acting (I find Gabriel Byrne acceptable, though, just wanted more of him from first scene to the last), bad casting even more, simply or mostly because dear ol' Reese is TERRIBLE, really hate her. Worst: it is TOO long. TOO LONG. LISTEN. Cut off one hour, and we can talk. Then I might round 50. But probably not.

I thought I'd love it as I absolutely love period pieces but wow....This sucked. The only thing to save it was James Purefoy in all his hotness. But seriously, it just jumped to one dramatic storyline to another without really giving closure to the last one...Crap.

Not bad -- the problems have more to do with the source material than the adaptation.

Reese Witherspoon proves herself adept at playing a scheming British wannabe socialite in this too long period movie. It can get confusing to keep up with the story and all its characters, but as long as you try, it's a fairly involving drama.

Fantastically boring, especially considering the cast. But at least the costumes are pretty.

Watching this made me sleep like a baby.

Fellowes and Nair's take on Thackeray's classic does little to elevate it from an ordinary, dull and safe repetition of too many of its rise-out-of-poverty period film predecessors.
