Summary: The males from Hari's (Prithviraj) family have been the "Velichappadu" (oracle) of the village temple for generations, with his grandfather Narayanan Nair (Jagathi) being the latest. Narayanan Nair's son Madhavan (Murali) takes up the mantle after Narayanan Nair's death against the wishes of his family, especially Hari, who leaves the village.
