Perhaps you need to be Japanese

Crazy action.

Go into this movie expecting a quirky Japanese film with tons of fake blood and illogical fights with guns and swords and shit, and you'll walk away satisfied that this film did it's work. Not the best of this genre, but it wasn't the worst either.

Slick and well-imagined, but something was just slightly... off about the whole thing. I kept waiting for the movie to "happen" and it kept restarting its premise, like an old car whose engine keeps almost turning over when you turn the key.

The plot was a bit too corny for me; it did have things many would want in an action flick though.

A great zombie, samurai, gun wielding action movie that's fun and hilarious.

Wild, goofy, bloody action and black comedy. On a scale of 1 to Versus, this is definitely Versus.

[Review of the Ultimate Versus edition]: The director, Kitamura, and his film crew journeyed into a forest to produce this dazzlingly weird film. The acting is certainly cliche but the stunning cinematography helps to liven deadpan reactions. The fight scenes are lovingly crafted and interesting to watch. The story and plot fall flat, and the third act drags horrendously (especially with the final battle) but this film is still refreshing to watch if you can handle its quirky Japanese flavor.

yakuzas vs. zombies, doesn't need to be 2 hours though.

Few nice gore effects and actions sequences, but it's so heavy-handed and poorly written watching it felt like a struggle at times.

Basically a live action anime. Not as good as say "Crying Freeman" but still decent. Worth watching with friends.

eh, probably really sweet if you're 14 years old. lots of stupid "badass" cliches, terrible cinematography, terrible screenplay. there is some satisfying action, it just gets very monotonous after a while. i watched it in two sittings and was still kind of tired of it by the end of each. if you watch one japanese splatter film from 2000, make it battle royale, not this nonsense. sakaguchi is a decent lead though.

This is one the best B-movies ever. The action is outstanding, the acting and camerawork way over the top and the story sort of non-existing...but when yakuza gang-members return from the dead wielding guns, who needs much plot anyway? This little gem can be watched over and over again.

Versus is a fun low budget violence fest.

Zombie/yakuza mashup set in a magical forest. Hysterical and action packed with more attitude than story.

Utter shit from any kind of cinematic point of view, but the most entertaining utter shit ever committed to celluloid. Get the ULTIMATE version and a whole lot of booze for maximum satisfaction.
