I'm not sure America's version of Winnie the Pooh would ever ask Piglet if he had a gun.

I watched this no fewer than 100 times as a kid living in Moscow. They hired a famous Soviet comic to do the voice of Vinni-Pukh, and his quotes and voice are hysterical.

In 1969 the Americans sent a man to the moon. In that same year the Soviets came out with their own version of Winnie the Pooh. The Cold War wasn't so cut-and-dry as you'd like to think.

As a long time fan of the American Pooh, i was a bit skeptical, however, it didn't take long for this silly old bear and his pig friend to win me over.

I cannot help but compare this to the Disney films. However, it stands up quite well by comparison. This Pooh is quite different from the one with Sterling Holloway's voice that all of us Americans know, although he's still a bear of very little brain. Funny and watchable from start to finish

A testament to the capacity of great, or simply endearing, product to transcend cultural, social and political divides, Vinni-Pukh, a Russian version of Winnie the Pooh, belies the confrontational nature of its time in a celebration of the same brand of jovially quaint entertainment Winnie the Pooh originally embodied. Taken as it is, Khitruk's capsule isn't great (it's just good, really), but it's something of a revelation regardless.

This is some hilarious stuff. Winnie the pooh seems to be even more of a basketcase in rhyming Russian.
