One of the very few film adaptations that is actually better than the book! Great film! It's like Jodorowsky mixed with Pasolini.

Arrabal uses a wild array of vulgar and over-the-top symbolic devices and oftens goes for the shock effect. But the film had a delicious, no-holds-barred energy that I just loved. It's definitely not for everyone, though.

There are some interesting ideas and moments in the film, but the Oedipal tension and blatant use of color tinting got old pretty quick.
