Better than you might think. Joe Don Baker is likable and scary at the same time--just what you want for Buford Pusser. Phil Karlson's direction is excellent, as always.

Woah, is this the real life story of Chuck Norris or what? Now, seriously: this is absolutely manipulative, with a whole bunch of crappy dialogues and cheesy 'deep' moments. But well, as a flick itself, it has plenty of cool Dirty Harry-like action scenes.
