Watched this in tandem with the first one, which wasn't a good idea. Though it's slick and well-made, this doesn't work at all, for reasons that are hard to articulate. I think the problem lies with Gekko; he (along with that annoying daughter of his) seems shoehorned into the plot, and his actions later in the film grow increasingly incomprehensible, even off-putting. Jake Moore's story's fine by itself; Gekko's inclusion's not necessary, and makes the film seem endless.

It's not bad, but it definitely seemed like something that was somewhat hastily thrown together to try to cash in on the current economic situation by tying it in with the plot of the movie. As a disclaimer, I wasn't really a huge fan of the first one, but it was slightly better than the sequel. The scenes at the end during the credits were just kind of weird.

The type of movie that could have easily been great, but instead was so badly written, directed, and edited and thus led to a insubstantial and unbalanced film. The idea and basic plotline are primarily capable of leading a great film, but once again all the characters were deeply underdeveloped, and the story was very had to follow. This is also Oliver Stone%u2019s weakest filmmaking I ever witnessed; such as shame, especially when coming from the man who previously directed Nixon and JFK.

Oliver Stone makes a movie that is about the same as the original Wall Street. Take that as you will but for me the original was not that great. The cameo was cool but felt really forced, LaBeouf isn't strong enough to lead the film and Douglas just seemed to be going through the paces as a very predictable plot falls into place.

Douglas makes a welcome return to form in his iconic Gordon Gecko role for this enjoyable film. Langella delivers the finest performance in the supporting cast, with his nuanced portrayal of sad desperation. Plus great to see 93 year old Wallach still strutting his stuff! Marks a return to form for Stone, who displays his mastery of visuals during the many split-screen montages. Pity it couldn't be angrier or more pointed about its subject matter, but film is still far superior to most sequels.

The idea of a "Wall Street 2" can only intrigue, but watching Michael Douglas act like the good guy playing second-fiddle to Shia LaBeouf? I didn't buy it despite Oliver Stone cranking out a semi-decent film. 'Money Never Sleeps' never quite takes flight, and it lacks the thrill of the original 1987 film. LaBeouf simply comes off too young for the role, and he can't quite keep the film on its toes. It takes a fantastic cameo to give the film a proper boost of energy.

"Escrito por Allan Loeb e pelo diretor Oliver Stone, o roteiro continua tão crítico àquele universo quanto no filme de 87, mas com uma diferença fundamental: se antes os excessos daqueles personagens nos atraíam como insetos para a luz mortífera, agora nós sabemos quais foram as conseqüências de toda aquela especulação absurda." This is an enjoyable follow up to Wall Street. Michael Douglas is still very good in his return to one of his best roles. The timing could not have been better for this follow up. The story is interesting, overall this is just a notch down from the original.

It loses some of its early plus-points later on, and LaBeouf is nowhere near likeable enough to fill this role, but here we finally get to see Gekko as a human: flawed, and not just an evil caricature as in the first movie. It's still far from perfect (or even far from good), but some of Douglas, all of Langella and most of Mulligan make up for the new cardboard-based lifeforms that Brolin and LaBeouf provide in lieu of leads.

The fact that I watched The Inside Job a few weeks before this movie might have been its undoing. Michael Douglas is excellent in his role as a money-hungry insider-trader who's done time in prison. Shia BeLouf just looks a little too young for the role though. The plot is nice and often leaves you wondering who the characters point to in real life.

There was a good story in there, its just a shame it came out as this movie. It looks like Stone made it after he spent a decade in prison. "Did you know I can overlay images?" "Did you know I could split the screen in two? Or even FOUR?!" I'm sure it was an intentional style choice as Stone has made some good looking films in the past I just don't think this one panned out. A better film could have survived it but it kept pulling me out, over and over again. I will, however, buy the soundtrack.

The timely return of the old yuppie scum bag Gordon Gekko could easily had made a poignant comment on the present Wall Street disasters, but the movie never finds it's footing, shifting between the various underdeveloped side-plots with neither real subtext nor Stone's usual aesthetically flair.
