The "D" in this Drama stands for depressing. This is one of those films that, even though I know that people like these characters exist in the real world, I don't want to watch 90 minutes of their depressing lives play out. I want to watch a movie to be entertained, moved, or otherwise engaged but movies like this really make me wish that I would have spent my time napping instead.

"A compendium of bad ideas and worse filmmaking, Jake (son of Ridley) Scott's Welcome to the Rileys is forever peddling its psychologically reductive message until, at the end, it fairly screams it out." - Andrew Schenker

i didn't think that gandolfini would be able to pull off a role like this, but he did. same goes for stewart, and she didn't. it's a decent drama, but there's not too much story here to work with.

The movie started off a little boring, and I was wondering why I even decided to watch it, but then the Kristen Stewart plot came, and it got a little more interesting. I thought the whole family dynamic engaging enough. Kristen Stewart was good for the most part. More adult then her other roles, but once in a while she broke into same old Kristen Stewart. She's not very good at acting mad. James Gandolfini and Melissa Leo were pretty good as the "parents". It did drag in places though.

This movie was not very good and Kristen Stewart as a stripper was dumb, James Gandolfini saved this movie from being worse then it was.

The story knocked on a certain area between adults and their crowing kids. All three leads were good, but the story never find any bigger spheres. Jake's got a big boost from his dad and so.

K.Stewart as teen slut does much better job than in any other 'teen' role I've seen her so far.

For the most part, a rich and textured yet understated character exploration which probes at its characters' emotions and gradually peels back the layers to reveal past traumas. The subject matter is handled carefully and with subtlety, allowing plenty of space for the characters to breathe. Gandolfini and the very natural Kristen Stewart both act well, but it's Melissa Leo's performance which is truly award-worthy. Good writing and enigmatic score. The only downside is the anticlimactic ending.

Stewart and Gandolfini are good together. Seeing Melissa Leo's performance makes me want to rewatch Frozen River. She's so different here. A small character-driven story, well told.

A film that continues to be watchable almost solely because of the performances. The plot is not well-developed, the characters act based solely on one event in their past, the pacing is very slow, nothing ever really gets accomplished, and it's a very predictable experience. The actors are good, and it's because of them that I didn't mind finishing Welcome to the Rileys, but unless you're a fan of one of the three leads, I can't recommend giving it a watch.

It's a movie that doesn't try to be anything more than what it is -- a small, character-driven, three-person world that sucks you in to it and refuses to let go. The risk being that, you have to have characters and actors that are capable of pulling that off. Luckily, the three leads are truly remarkable. It's continuing proof that K-Stew is willing to go wherever she needs to go in order to be taken seriously outside of the Twilight franchise, and she is more than deserving of that credibility.
