A couple of suspenseful spots, but only the land-ladies really made it worthwhile: knick-knack Mrs. Whack gave the dog a room.

Patchy horror film which lurches from excellent suspense scenes to tedious chunks of superfluous dialogue. In many ways a milestone in the history of its kind.

Not bad for a first werewolf movie, but genre obviously needed a lot of refinement from this point. Still, it's good for a howl. AAAOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!

This forgotten first werewolf film from Universal Pictures is dated but not unworthy. Hull clearly did not relish this role. Originally intended as a vehicle for Karloff and Lugosi, this is too derivative of Mamoulian's _Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde_ and the Jack Pierce makeup is minimal, but Oland is excellent and Byington provides a few unobtrusive laughs.

Not completely enrapturing, but funny, classy, and quite delicious.
