Oddly amusing in it's way. Carole Lombard is rather irrelevant and cold in this. She's only there for the desperate men to drool over. For this is all about Charles Laughton as the eccentric Englishman. The 'King of the River' who treats everyone like shit in his sarcastic drunken way. Got me laughing through-out. "White Woman" has it's moments of utter joy with Laughton, but it's far from a complete experience and lacks a lot in all the other departments.
