A heartfelt, personal film that wasn't helped at all by O'Donnell's jokey cameo appearance or by the expectations that Shyamalan's later films created for it. If you saw this film before 'Sixth Sense', you probably loved it and were touched by it. If you saw it after 'Sixth Sense', notsomuch.

Shyamalan wears his heart on his sleave in this early film. It's well-meaning and sort of sweet but it didn't really speak to me.
