Be warned going in to this that it's less a Woody Allen documentary, and more of a concert movie. I expected a Woody Allen documentary. Yeah there's fair amount of time spent with Allen back stage, but it's never very interesting. I didn't really gain any insight.

Wonderful documentary dealing surprisingly intimately with Woody's jazz band and tour of Europe. Old-time jazz music, a staple of all of Woody's films, is performed here in a series of lively performances, but primary attraction for Woody fans are the candid revelations that emerge about his life and relationship with Soon-Yi; making the film an invaluable text to contextualise many of Allen's other films. Love the extraordinary final meeting with Woody's parents, both alive at time of filming!
