Not good, but okay.. Touching final act, insane and completely ridiculous amazing stunts/sfx - but still too long and uneven at times..

Nice scenes in the air, which undoubtedly won it that Oscar. Or both.

Solid. The aerial photography is great and the effects (the bombing for example) hold up impressively well. It's a long film and the comedic middle part is quite silly but enjoyable enough.

Well the stunts are perhaps the movie's best selling point but they somewhat also ruins the movie by being too lenghty and too confusing. I really enjoyed the comedic interlude in paris between the war scenes. Still Sunrise is definetely the best film that year and if you're looking for a ww1 pic from that time then you should really be watching All Quiet on the Western Front.

Age can make things seem better than they really are. Is there any excuse for a huge portion of the second act where Jack is drunk and oddly obsessed with strange bubbles? The tone was completely off from the rest of the film. There are scenes that play well, but 'Wings' is mostly a hodge-podge of barely in frame dogfights and comic/action. I can't tell if it wanted to be taken seriously or was supposed to be played for laughs. Cut it in half and it's a better picture, but not quite great.

The first Oscar winner for Best Picture, and one which, its faults aside, still holds its own some 85 years later. The script is a pretty hackneyed one, and the romantic side of the story tends to be trite and predictable--yet it's a testament to William A. Wellman's skills as a director that much of it does still pack an emotional punch--especially the truly heartrending climax. And the battle scenes--aerial and earthbound both--are truly impressive, even today. The acting isn't bad, either.

Great when Clara Bow is on screen, seems plodding at times when she isn't.

When Hollywood was decaying, at least morally, they responded in many ways - one of these ways was this film, the most expensive ever made until then. You can say a lot about it: it's technically impressive for it's time, it can be considered the first blockbuster ever, and it will all be true - but one thing you can't say about it (though I'd love to) is that it aged well. It's corny, predictable and not very interesting at all. I'd love to recommend this, but honestly... You can skip this.

Pretty exciting and well made, although it's overlong and a bit dated. Clara Bow is cute.

One of the most exciting silent dramas, featuring some of the best aerial photography and dogfighting to be seen. Winner of the first Oscar as Best Picture.

This picture has NOT aged well. It's not bad, but less exciting and less dramatic than you might think. Clara Bow is cute, though
