Summary: In antiquity, the Amazons defeat the war god, Ares, and Zeus charges them to hold him prisoner as eternally young warriors on the hidden island of Themyscira. Centuries later, US Air Force pilot Steve Trevor is lured to crash land on the island and the distraction of that trespass allows Ares to escape. In response, Princess Diana wins the responsibility to both take Trevor home and recapture the fugitive god (imdb)

A shame this material is wasted on an animated dvd since this is the blueprint 2 the most entertaining W.W. film any1's ever likely 2 c. The way this story feels fresh but faithful; the way it surprises w/out feeling contrived; & the thought-out balance (that feels organic) btwn action, character, seriousness & humor r most reminiscent of the Star Trek revamp. The level of violence surprises 4 a cartoon - just 1 more thing that'll have u picturing the live-action blockbuster this could've been.

While the cast is impressive (especially Fillion and Russell), and the humour is a nice touch -- although still a little sparse -- there are enough unanswered questions, plot holes and clunky dialogue that goes well beyond the pseudo-classical schtick to make this an average animation at best. The DC animated universe is yet to reach the same level as some of its Marvel competitors.

Actually managed to make Wonder Woman interesting and fun! Definitely the best so far of the recent DC animated DVD features.

There's a reason that this animated movie was released direct to video.

"My name is Zeus and I am the king among gods. Ares, my son, is the god of war. We must fight because we disagree." That's not verbatim from 'Wonder Woman', but it may as well be. I was rolling my eyes so much during this flick that my eyelids started to hurt. So many exposition dumps. Why tell each other so much information you already know? "You and I are sisters, Athena." Would you not punch that person? I wish I could. When the plot picks up, it recovers, but not enough to save the film.

I thought that this was pretty good... funny in places and plenty of action. A good portrayal of Wonder Woman

These direct to DVD DC Universe animated films have been getting better and better and I think they are starting to bring a standard of quality. This movie shows the origin story of Wonder Woman and gives the character a chance to shine. The animation is good, the characters are wonderfully drawn and you just get a feel of the care they put into this project. Its possibly the best origin story of the character in any medium ever.
