First act was probably a little long for what amounted to set-up for the premise. Could use some tighter editing. Overall though, a good little movie.

There are a few things I like about Robin Williams: he's a talented comedic and dramatic actor, he's prolific, and he's not afraid to make some risqué choices. All of which has resulted him turning up in this unusual black dramedy of dysfunctional relationships, one of the main tropes of modern American indie cinema. The idea is fresh and well-executed, with many interesting characters. However it runs out of steam and originality in the third act. Definitely worth a look though.

Pretty touching black comedy about single parenthood. Doesn't sugar coat or talk down and Robin Williams turns in a performance that is understated and humanizing (I know, right?). The comedy is at times uneven, but ultimately hits more than it misses.

This is a very well made dark comedy. Robin Williams is great in one of his most subdued performances. There are many funny moments and good acting turns. The scene in the pool is weird but the rest of the movie is great.

A wonderfully demented little black comedy from the twisted mind of Bobcat Goldthwait. Well worth seeing for people with a penchant for really dark comedy. One of Williams' better performances, even if the movie did seem to go largely unnoticed.

Robin Williams is an actor who is all too often guilty of letting his own personality get in the way with the character he is trying to play. (Although that isn't always a bad thing.) There is not even a hint of that in World's Greatest Dad. He plays a man who is somewhat immoral yet ultimately likeable. Mainly because he has suffered for so long we want to see him achieve something - even if that is simply happiness.

Contrived nonsense about a mans loss of his son, whom was not a very nice person, and the way we like to make loved ones more appealing in death than they were in life.Dark, very dark and not at all funny, like it was advertised to be. Stay away from this and watch THE WORLD ACCORDING TO GARP if you want to watch a great off-beat Robin Williams movie.

A great, underrated movie. This one seems to have flown under the radar of most people, myself included. A wonderful performance by Robin Williams, probably one of his best. It's full of drama and dark comedy, as well as satire. It plays off of the idea that we, as humans, like to glorify deceased people even if we may have found them undesirable in life. The only thing I could have asked for would have been a better ending; it went for more comedy but I was looking for more drama. Oh well.

would have never thought goldthwait had it in him to take over the reigns and become a competent writer/director, but he did a pretty decent job. while i was surprised with the quality of the movie, it just doesn't have the stuff of great movies in it. decent story, good acting, just not that memorable of a movie though.

Very formulaic structure and somewhat hollow, tacked-on ending. That being said, the dark subject matter and emotional honesty are refreshing, and Goldthwait is a competent director. The humor is uneven, but the unfunny parts generally carry enough emotional weight to keep you interested. Williams and Sabara are both pretty good, and the comedian cameos are fun to spot if you're in the know. Goldthwait's cameo is under-stated and surprisingly hilarious (to me). Don't spoil this one before seeing
