Scientist attempts to see to the ends of the universe and succeeds. Then, however, he has to live with the consequences. Corman called it "B movie Greek Tragedy". I think that works. Crazily compelling.

He wanted to see much more but saw too much and wanted to see no more. Classic tragedy with a dash of Christianity.

Cheesy but likable.

Maybe Oscar-winner Milland's last good role. Although somewhat held back by its budget and limited special FX, this well-written little movie is intelligent and understated (except maybe for the music, which sounds like something out of _House on Haunted Hill_), with a solid support cast (look for lots of Corman regulars in minor roles) and a legendarily grim shock ending.

Special effects that make Avatar look like an old forgotten MGM film.
