Great music, Gene Kelly, what more can I say. However there is some foul language from Sonny.

Probably one of the worst movies you'll ever see with some of the worst acting you'll ever see, but I remember watching this as a kid, and to me it'll always have a special meaning. It also has an incredible soundtrack, thanks in part to ELO.

"This modern musical - with tunes written by Where Are They Now pop band ELO - falls flat on its face simply because the premise is so utterly ludicrous."

Not really a good movie, but I'm glad it exists, in all its naive idealism and sparkle-filled glory. A guilty pleasure.

XANADU's overload of kitsch aside, it's failure is largely due to the lame script, with only three characters of real consequence, and a plot that barely exists, which in any case is largely an excuse for overscaled musical numbers. These have some imagination behind them--it looks pretty good, all told--but they also tend to go on forever, and after a while, boredom sets in; the film basically gives up on the story in the third act. Gene Kelly steals the show with his customary class.

Yes, it is cheesy as hell, but sadly not quite batshit crazy/thoroughly incompetent enough to properly qualify for The Apple-level camp masterpiece status. Instead it is mostly just boring, although some of the ELO music is not bad. I'm sure it has a gay following out there who go to revival shows and sing along, but really for anyone else i don't think it is worth the time.

Don't take it so damn seriously, people! Hilarious camp, with some decent songs and a weird here-comes-Reagan vibe. Plus Gene Kelly on roller skates (again). Compare it side by side with the godawful Can't Stop the Music and you'll see what I mean.

I'm not normally one to just go along with the crowd, but this was really terrible. As for its camp value--I like my camp to be, well, actually campy. This was just limp and cheesy (and not in a fun way).
