While easy to dismiss immediately as a Liar Liar clone, this is genuinely watchable, sometimes cute and actually touches on some modern social empathy, if you want to read into it that far. There's a Third Eye Blind moment halfway through the film that could have been terrible and corny, but ended up being sweet and enjoyable; to me, that proves it's well done.
I saw this movie with the only expectation of getting disappointed. To my surprise it wasnt bad at all. The story is pretty entertaining for most parts. You dont end up in peels of laughter but you do laugh a bit pretty consistently. Once again I am impressed by Zooey Deschanels acting. Over all a decent comedy flick.
One of my friends said this movie was just 'one joke stretched to make a movie' which i agree with. It wasn't as bad as i would have thought from my friend's comment, at least Jim Carrey doesn't totally bomb.
Pretty solid film with Jim Carrey playing a character very similar to that of what he did in Liar, Liar, but I actually ended up enjoying this film more than that one. This is very comparable to Bruce Almighty but not as preachy or overly emotional. The whole plot of saying yes to everything actually wields some really amusing outcomes and gives this light hearted fare a bit of weight to keep itself grounded. I enjoyed this and it is worth a rental.
Nothing new here, but a lot of energy from the cast helps turn what would have been another gimmick vehicle into a pleasant, upbeat piece of consumer friendly junk food.
It precisely follows same old Hollywood's RomCom formula. So no pleasant surprises really. But it manages to be self-respectable and entertaining, and that's well enough for todays mainstream entertainment flicks.
This was a pretty decent film, I found it more funny that I thought I would have. It's certainly not something that's going to win any awards, but if you're looking for something to watch and enjoy on a lazy afternoon, definitely watch this.
The Apatow crew have proven that comedies don't have to have the same cookie-cutter script that so many comedies have, and unfortunately, Yes Man is just another predictable cookie. It was entertaining enough to keep my attention for the whole movie, but the jokes - which aren't gut-busting or anything - are just too few and too far in between. The most satisfying part of the movie for me was seeing Murray of HBO's Flight of the Conchords get some screen-time.
It might be the advancing years, it might be the braincells killed by years of alcohol abuse, but I am definitely mellowing towards the Jim Carey scenery chewing thing. With that, and rock bottom expectations in mind, this was a reasonably good time.
YES MAN! funnyface jim carrey guy does friggin great in this movie, with his awesome acting talent (and with 46 year old man's facial wrinkles) combined with such a funny scenario. escape from hospital scene has some butt exposed, and that yes man symposium scene with that terrence guy is awesome. also we have zoey deschanel here-and she looks as hell good as always- she does good with her acting too, but i cant say her character is not a stereotype. watch the hell out of it.
