mel Brooks was doing his thing back then. intelligent comedy based on spoofing horror movies. brilliant!!!

THE movie to see after viewing the 1933 version of Frankenstein. Lots of the dialog tag lines have become part of American slang 'Walk this way', or 'Hump? What hump?' or 'No tongues!'

A classic comedy and one of the most brilliant spoofs of all time. It doesn't overdo it and provides each gag with its own, bravura laugh.

One of Brooks best. Great cast and very funny.

In an effort to keep my reviews more positive I will not say a single bad thing about this film. It was slightly less cancerously unfunny and painfully dull than Blazing Saddles. There you go, not a bad word said about it.

Probably the only Mel Brooks movie I could say was well-made. Also: Gene Wilder is a genius.

By far my favourite childhood film. I remember laughing myself into a stupor every time I watched this. Unfortunately, having seen it again as an adult, it doesn't reach the same lofty heights of entertainment, but is still a very solid and thoroughly entertaining comedy. Gene Wilder really shines.

Hilarious. Everything in this movie is brilliant.

Yeah, yeah: it's a classic. I just don't find the humour has held up as well as Brooks' other films ("The Producers" comes to mind immediately). It's still worth a watch.

Wilder and monster Boyle make a memorable song-and-dance team to Irving Berlin's "Puttin' on the Ritz," and Hackman's cameo as a blind man is inspired. Garr ("What knockers!" "Oh, sank you!") is adorable as a fraulein, and Leachman ("He's vass my--boyfriend!") is wonderfully scary. Hilarious parody.
