Zandalee

Judge Reinhold might have been miscast. Not just in this role (although very much in this role) but maybe as a person by his career advisor. He describes himself at one point in this film as being a paraplegic of the soul. Then Nic Cage rolls into town and immediately starts banging his wife. It takes a long time for this movie to end and then it ends again and then it needs to end again.

Boring as hell, but it got my gf hot so bonus points for that.

As trashy cinema, this erotic drama had so much potential: impressive and unnecessary amounts of nudity, an over the top Nicolas Cage with terrible hair, and a supporting cast including Joe Pantoliano, Steve Buscemi and Marisa Tomei. Sadly however, after laughs in the first half, the film reaches a point where it meanders and drags, which means it is neither a legitimately good film nor a comic gem.

I defy you to tell me you were invested in the story of this film. There's dramatic escalation of a sort, but throughout I could only think, "Who the hell cares how this all turns out?" Cage's character is often unintentionally hilarious, especially his introduction, lit from behind and whipping his mullet around, and his farewell, smearing himself with black paint and screaming at the top of his lungs. Thank God the erotic thriller is dead.

Absolutely terrible on all fronts. Not even bonus points for Cage doing sofort cagey things.

"It's impossible to take this stony-faced drivel seriously, but, purely on the level of Cage giving another one of his patented over-the-top performances, it at least provides some chuckles."

This is a terrible movie. The script is bad and so is the dialogue. Some good actors are wasted. Overall this film is a train wreck.

Most "bad" Cage movies either turn out to be surprisingly watchable because he fully commits to his role, despite being in a bad movie, or actually bad because he is caught in a boring part. This is the rare movie where he does fully commit, but the movie is so soul-suckingly boring that it manages to drain all the fun out of it anyway.

This is recommended viewing for those who enjoy unhinged Cage performances. He seems to ad lib half of his dialogue and does so with the gnarliest goatee. Judge Reinhold attempts to out act Cage to pretty devastating success.
