Amusing as heck to watch with 21st century technology, but it's a classic of the genre. Ignore the lousy script and acting. You're there to have fun watching neon people pretend to be inside a computer.

Although the computer generated parts were eye-popping back when it came out, the rest of the movie was mindnumblingly terrible. I hated it then, and have not seen it since '82.

Insane visual style and a concept that is a wacky sort of fun even today. I wish people would move on from the "geek paradise" idea, this has every right to be loved for its visuals as, say, Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.

The first feature film with computer-generated special FX, this is great looking but rather slackly plotted. Most of the supporting cast play dual roles; Jeff is in fine form as the quick-witted hero.

I wasn't expecting to like this, but I found myself intrigued the whole time. I was pretty wowed by the visual aspect, even today. Definitely ahead of its time.

Time, it seems, can take its toll on a piece of work! While 'Tron' is, in terms of writing and directing, a good 80s-style fun ride, in context, this film looks like nothing more than an early low-tech pre-vis cobbled together for Disney executives in preparation for Tron: Legacy. Interesting to see that Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner have improved dramatically over the years as well as the effects!!

Compare with the new sci-fi movies...well... But the story was very original. Also the style is very original and i think that you can't see something similar around. It's absolutly to see!!!

Strangely enough, the pic for the movie is from the computer game Tron 2.0, but I digress. This is a classic Disney film, and one of the first to use extensive CGI. The look is so incredibly unique, though the script and acting could use a little work. All in all, a unique film.

OK, so it's not _that_ great a film. It gets extra points for novelty and bringing back memories of the 80's.

Saw this in '82 and it was groundbreaking, really pushed the boundaries of what cinema really was. Nowadays, it doesn't hold up too well. Once I realized that the Female lead was Lacey Underall from Caddyshack, what little nostalgia I had dropped away. END OF LINE

Made, believe it or not, from the early video game of the same name, Tron loses it with its unusual use of the still infant (at the time) computer animation industry.

For a film that sets the bar in CGI (for the time) with its amazing visuals (for the time), it feels to me like the characters are all stuck in a single dimension. I liked the world that was created here and this movie really likes to show it off. However, the presentation feels a little static and gimmicky. Also, all this blue made my eyes glaze over.

Visual innovation aside, the movie struggles to keep up with the viewer's expectation of a decent plot.

I don't know what to feel about this. There's nothing interesting going on and it's quite silly. But the visuals give such an unique and eerie vibe that it was worth watching anyways.

First high-end computer generated graphics with the quality of Jean Giraud and great designs and storyboard. A must see if you likes the new edition.

Could have been thought-provoking by further comparing humans to algorithms or developing the "user mythology." Since the effects are now surpassed by no-budget kids' TV, nostalgia is now the only way to enjoy this.

Really weird movie. I will give it credit for being inventive. For its time it was probably really impressive. There is a really weird view of computers. I found it disturbing the way that computer programs had conversations with each other about life. And the way that the programs looked like the writer of the program and that they talked about the "users" as if they were God. Very wacky but interesting ideas. I liked it but it wasn't great. Maybe if I saw it when it came out...

It's been too long since I've seen it to remember much, but it was the first movie to combine computer animation and live action, so it gets high ranking simply for that fact.

Jeff Bridges, Babylon Five's Bruce Boxleitner, and David Warner as the evil bad guy (The exec Ed Dillinger, the game player Sark, and the Voice of the Master Control Program) all provide very fun performances. They are able to make this crazy environment work well enough that it still comes across as a rather cool cyberpunk flick. And truly, if you're into VR cyberpunk movies, Tron is a MUST SEE - so much so that one point has added to this review score for its historical place in VR films.

I kinda found a lot of references in this movie. The strange floating cube reminded me of portal's voice, it felt a lot like matrix. But history is surely left in the background because of A lot of crazy computer-real world mashup that is just ridiculous.
