Good lord, every time I peek back into these forums, I'm reminded of why I stopped frequenting them.

Re: "Mad Max: Fury Road"

You're right, shit like Ant-Man should have the exact same location-enhanced shots. Why didn't they strap cameras to actual ants? CGI is ruining everything these days, gawww!

Re: "Mad Max: Fury Road"

There's a lot more CGI going on in Mad Max than simply supplementing stunt work. The CGI is used deftly, but not sparingly. It's also kind of an unfair comparison to Marvel movies, which not only cover stories that require more CGI than most movies, but are intended to be crazy-ass comic book movies...

Re: "Mad Max: Fury Road"

What made this movie good was the "art" of the entire thing. Did you see a bunch of crazy fucking CGI shit in this? Nope. This is a master at his craft. Those action sequences were amazing considering. Hmm... should I... should I be the one to point out Mad Max was chockfull of CGI? Nah.....

Re: "Mad Max: Fury Road"

I was hoping there'd be more to the band wagon, like some kick-ass anthem rock or something Anyway, the film is a work of pure ambition and passion. When we think of modern big blockbusters that are primarily action, it's not rare for a Michael Bay trainwreck to enter our minds. We think of the bud...

Re: The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

No, actually, I didn't. The tangent began when you decided to shrug off my thoughts and start a conversation about good action flicks in general. Despite that, I continued to try to focus the conversation on the actual film again, but you were still prattling on about genres and I got bored. It's no...

Re: The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

I'm really not that interested in talking about what merits genre labels, but more about the content of my original post.

Re: The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Uh, you and I have very different definitions of action films. Action can be a genre, but it's not the primary genre in any of those films, and thus I wouldn't call them action films. Well, maybe End of Watch. The last great action film I saw was probably Skyfall. But more to the point, I was totall...

Re: The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

While the film is fun and Spader is as terrific as expected, the film makes the mistake of looking too far ahead in its franchise than focusing on itself. The first Avengers felt like a destination, this Avengers feels like the step to yet another series of films while simultaneously being unable to...
