Re: The Wolf of Wall Street
The problem I had with this movie is that over its three hour running time you learn literally nothing about what makes the main character tick apart from that he's an ambitious dude who gets off on drugs, women and money - we had that figured early on. He's great at selling stock to gullible people...

Re: "Capt. Phillips"
It was decent, but the ending really dragged. For the last half hour there was only one way it was going to end but it took such a long shouty time getting there, for me the drawn out ending actually defused a lot of the tension that had built up.

But more recently, I have realized how useless it is trying to argue on the Internet with idiots
Finally, something on which we agree! Have a nice day!

Re: "Her"--LA vs Shanghai...US vs. the World
But keep defending China's horrible air quality by pointing out completely unrelated qualities. Hilariously enough, many of my Chinese friends have cited air quality as one reason why they no longer live in China. Firstly, if you had the reading skills of a five year old you would understand that I...

Re: "Her"--LA vs Shanghai...US vs. the World
CO2 is not a pollutant despite the efforts of the left to have it viewed that way. If CO2 is a pollutant, then so is water vapor. There is an overwhelming scientific consensus (Fox News doesn't qualify) of around 97% of climatologists that current levels of CO2 emissions is Seriously Bad News Re Cl...

Re: "Her"--LA vs Shanghai...US vs. the World
Obviously CO2 is not a pollutant itself, except in the sense that the level of current emission are directly linked to current rates of global warming which could well indirectly lead to billions of deaths in the fullness of time. However, CO2 emissions is also linked to higher levels of air polluti...

Re: "Her"--LA vs Shanghai...US vs. the World
Yet, you're arguing that China couldn't curb pollution if it really wanted to with new standards and enforcement, something the far less powerful and strict US government managed to?! That's imbecilic. And again. The problem is I never actually argued that. If you actually read my first post, you w...

Re: "Her"--LA vs Shanghai...US vs. the World
Have to also say that claiming "if X cared about Y they would have done something about it" is a really stupid argument. Let's see. The US has many gun deaths = they don't care about gun crime. Many Chinese people are poor = they don't care about money. Or could it be that there just might...

Re: "Her"--LA vs Shanghai...US vs. the World
Well if we take CO2 emissions per capita as an example, guess what? You're totally wrong. US is around 10th per capita, and China is 55th. The vast majority of industrialized nations are also worse than China. Congrats on being spectacularly wrong once more!

Re: Canvassing opinions on TV series
Regarding the relative merits of Elizabeth Moss vs Don Draper, I guess that there is just my opinion. I have found Moss' portrayal of her character at times more affecting than anything done by Hamm. You could argue that may be down to the writing, character arc etc . Maybe, I dont know. Can there e...
