Re: The Rev. Al Gore at it again

... he "drinks me" and sucks.....himself. OK, good. The movie is about a person following a rabbit down a rabbit hole. How pedestrian. Lewis Carroll would be appalled. And of course, what on Earth has this got to do with the topic at hand. You know, Al Gore's "Documentary".

Alice through the looking glass (2016)

... never been a fan of the " Alice in Wonderland " fairy tale. It's a rather bizarre story that took shape in the inventive mind of Lewis Carroll. Not that it lacked imagination, but I had the impression that the wizardry with literary tricks got the most attention. A story richly filled ...

MirrorMask (2005)

... so captivating I spent all my time just trying to keep up and take it all in. One of a kind. There's nothing to really compare it to, but if Lewis Carroll had possessed CGI, and if Alice had been 15, it would have looked like this. It never made it passed 50 screens in the US even with Henson's ...

alice in wonderland (tim burton)

... always so with this failed remake-cum-sequel, which not only struggles to cement burton's presumably self-ordained position as a modern day lewis carroll, perfectly illustrating the chasm between burton insane and insane insane, but for long stretches fails even to achieve burton insane, settling ...

Re: Best horror movies of the last ten years

As for a definition, I think Noël Carroll is onto something in his book The Philosophy of Horror, or Paradoxes of the Heart (1990) (you can find a pdf of it using google) when he says that horror needs a monster, but I think there are some ...

Re: What is your earliest movie memory?

... about the time the really badly super-imposed out of context, 50 foot spider started crushing some standard issue big creepy old house with Leo G. Carroll in it, my old man suddenly grabbed my head and shoved it down under the seat so I wouldn't be psychologically traumatized. About 15 years later ...
