Re: Will "White Rabbit" be used in Burton's "Alice in Wonderland

This is dismissive of the lyrics to White Rabbit, of course. To fit an interpretation within that frame would trip me up. My contention remains that the crux of the song has little to do with Alice in Wonderland, and that the ode is shallow. LOL. So it appears that after those thought provoking par...

Re: Save film at LACMA!

As long as the government is throwing money at other subjects in the school system I think the Arts deserve just as much. They need to get the hell out of the school system. But as long as they're there, what's that got to do with LACMA or NPR/NPTV or dripping AIDS blood on an audience? You haven't...

Nawwwwwwww. Maybe you're just jealous of his face? But you're arguing against a ghost. You must see it. Be still and know.

Re: "(500) Days of Summer"

It is somewhat quirky in a good way, meaning not quirky for quirky's sake or overdone. It's very unpretentious. But even if it were, the trip and the message would be justified.

Re: Save film at LACMA!

Why is it so many people think its ok to get the government to hold a gun to taxpayers' heads to take their money to support the arts that can't support themselves? Just more pork. Speaking of pork, here, kiss her: http://www.fabulousafter40.com/images/liz-taylor-blue-shadow.jpg At least she used to...

Re: "(500) Days of Summer"

Fork it over. We gotta support the good Indies when they come along. And I don't know your mother but.... The Hangover ? I didn't really have a desire to see this movie, it just screamed quirky romantic comedy with an obvious indie slant (not that I mind indie movies at all I just don't like it when...

Re: "(500) Days of Summer"

My apologies to your mother. And yes the votes on IMDb are still just in the four digits. I do expect it to come down some--but still. RT is a better initial gauge and that's up there too. I'm thinking Internet ratings are weighted more toward men, and if that's true, that says even more about how u...

Re: Indie hit of the summer....year???

I did catch it at a screening a couple of weeks ago. I really like it (80), and I asked the guy what they were doing with the marketing. Said they moved it back a couple of weeks. That was a couple of weeks ago and it doesn't appear to be going anything like wide yet, certainly not even 400 screens....

Re: Will "White Rabbit" be used in Burton's "Alice in Wonderland

But golly, that's a helluva stretch. I sort of hinted that there at the last. But of course anything is possible while tripping the light psychedelic--a point which you had brought up yourself. Still, she must have sobered up enough at one point to question her (inner?) source. I think Silk... Is t...

Re: "(500) Days of Summer"

Just noticed this is #106 on IMDb's top 250. 87/92 at RT. A little validation there anyway. Halfway descent box of $18 mil, particularly given it's almost all word-of-mouth, even though (or because) most people don't see how deep it is. I still keep questioning myself, and I still keep telling mysel...
