Re: Indie hit of the summer....year???

I'll buy you a (single) Blu Ray disc of your choice (subject to all reasonable, obvious and subjective conditions as the offerer may deem appropriate) . I might take you up on that offer, too. Are we betting on whether it will be indie hit of the summer, or entire year? And what would you like if y...

Re: Indie hit of the summer....year???

Indie hit, big difference. Yeah, I got it. But can it compete with "Limits of control"? I don't know about American tastes, but I'm pretty sure Jarmusch's film will be more popular here in Europe. Ah...you're comparing European with American tastes. No clue in that department, especially ...

http://movies.apple.com/movies/samuel_goldwyn/coldsouls/coldsouls_h480p.mov After watching a trailer I must say it looks watchable. And that's a rare thing for me to say about recent american comedies. But "hit of the summer"?? I don't think so. Indie hit, big difference. And yeah, it's a...

Amen!
And as long as we're talking Kubrick, how can we not mention his follow up to 2001, A Clockwork Orange. He single-handedly revitalized the classical composers, Strauss and Ludwig Van.

Indie hit of the summer....year???

Sounds very interesting: Is your soul weighing you down? Paul Giamatti has found a solution! In the surreal comedy COLD SOULS, Paul Giamatti plays an actor named… Paul Giamatti. Stumbling upon an article in The New Yorker about a high-tech company that extracts, deep-freezes and stores people’s soul...

Re: 80 (Or So) Hottest Movies I've Ever Seen

There's been a lot of prurient porn and more t & a wasteland than I care to think about, but I've never seen a truly well produced erotic movie aimed straight at the narvanaistic section of the brain where the reptilian intersects with the superego. Vanilla Sky was an effort in the right directi...

Re: Z'up with Sherlock Holmes

You could be right, but I hope you're wrong too. Hollywood seems to have a real problem with getting Sherlock Holmes and Robin Hood down right. On the other hand, those characters seem to draw the hyper-purist out in viewers.

Re: Z'up with Sherlock Holmes

Just sayin' it's consistent with the novels and stories. I think we're gonna have to wait, but even if it does exceed those limits, we'll have to see what they've got. I'm 90% for staying within the limits of what Doyle laid out, but I'm also open to artistic license if it kicks ass.
