I saw the movie Inglorious Bastards http://www.criticker.com/film/Quel_maledetto_treno_blindato/ a while back, which clearly Tarantino is using as an inspiration. The story in Tarantino's version appears to be a bit different, though, from what I've seen in the trailer. I'd like to think Tarantino's movie will be at least as good as the original, which wasn't all that special.

Read the script in the summer of 2008.

Minus the litany of spelling and grammar errors, the script was excellent. Potentially Tarantino's (even though I think he's disgustingly overrated) best film ever.

The casting has me perplexed, though. I always pictured Lt. Aldo as a balding, tough guy who looks every bit of his mid forties age, not a pretty boy (albeit good actor) like Brad Pitt. The facial hair isn't fooling anyone.

But Eli Roth as Sergeant Donny? Honestly? That would be like casting Tobey Maguire as a badass professional fighter. (Oh wait, they did kind of do that....) Maybe he can pull it off acting-wise, but physically, he just doesn't fit the role at all.

Strange, considering that one of Tarantino's legitimate talents as a director is the ability to make quality casting decisions.

Edit- And oh yeah, I concur with Hank.

I read the script too and thought it was tits, but I dont think casting Eli Roth as Donny was a smooth move.

I've known about this film for a while now.

From the looks of it, it seems it's going to be every bit as abnormal and strange as Kill Bill and Jackie Brown. Tarantino always did have sort of a wacky touch to his movies, but this one looks a lot more serious. Will have to check it out.
