Please help with movie name

1988-1995 American movie about a woman kidnapped and held hostage by white man/men. All I remember is she found a kitten in the movie half way through. Any help would be amazing. Bugged me for over a decade!

Bingo! A poor remake (apparently) of a poor original (apparently--I've seen neither), in both of which Dean Jones has a prominent role (appropriately). Sadly, in the original, the cat is uncredited, but it is played in the remake by Elvis. Some, I'm sure, will attempt to make connection between Elvis the cat and Elvis' soul, but I think we can all rest assured that Elvis was still dead back in 1997, and remains so yet today.

Thank you both, I've just checked and it's not it, the film you mentioned is more of a comedy, this was more of a thriller.
