Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001)

I’m in a house with two young kids over Christmas so this is the kind of thing I’ve been subjected to over the past few days. They were scared of Harry Potter and his wizardy antics so I doubt we’ll get too far into the franchise.

This one hasn’t held up so well, perhaps because we’ve seen that the series gets better as it goes on, as do the actors. That said it’s a lovingly made adaptation; it’s no mean feat trying to make one of the most popular children’s books of all time work on the big screen.

Possibly the worst of the eight films but sets the tone for a ten year epic quite well.
