Donations

Postby Quicky on Mon Dec 01, 2008 7:41 am

I was wondering if there are any other people who would consider donating to Criticker.com if there were a donate option via PayPal?

If there were such an option, I would donate for 2 reasons:
  1. Because I have thoroughly enjoyed what Criticker has offered me thus far... and
  2. because quite frankly I don't want to feel so guilty for hiding ads...

Who else would donate if it were possible?

I rarely donate to websites (unfortunately it's just selfish me being the way I am), but if some of the minor problems get fixed up on this site (eg. quicker submission approvals, more image options, being able to view not just all of a certain member's ratings listed from highest to worst, but with all the mini-reviews included so we don't have to open up each individual page, etc.), then I might just do that because it's my favourite website and has been so helpful/interesting to me.

you can see all of a certain members ratings+reviews, use http://www.criticker.com/resource/17171 ... kings.html replacing the number with the member's user number
but yeah, an integrated way to do that would be nice :)

Maybe a subscriber service for the removal of adverts on film pages and forums could implement such an idea, and make you feel less guilty!

If it ever came to the point that the site might start to falter due to a lack of funds, support or whatever else, I'd certainly be willing to help keep the community together. This has to be easily one of the best sites I've come across on the net, and certainly the best that hasn't yet grown to its full potential or aknowledgement. With everything it has to offer and the amount of time I spend simply browsing, you can pretty much say it'd be my "desert island" website choice.

Being able to pay a small monthly fee for the removal of ads would be something I would be very interested in. :)

Although, if this "subscription" were to come with any other bonus features I wouldn't support it. One of the great things about Criticker is that it's free for everyone, and doesn't give "bonus" content to subscribers that is unaccessible to others (one of the things I hate most about sites like IMDb and IGN, etc). As far as I'm concerned everything on the internet should be freely available to anyone. But paying to remove ads I wouldn't mind.

I agree completely with Rufflesack. Criticker is definitely a project I feel that I would like to contribute to, and getting rid of the adds wouldn't be all that bad.

If you use firefox just download adblocker and your problems with ads are solved. I've never seen one ad on this site.

The whole point of this thread was to plead for a donate button so I wouldn't have to do that.

That wasn't really the point. What I meant was that; yes, I could see myself contributing to Criticker and if I also got rid of ads, that would be a nice bonus.
