Pretty predictable nominations (saw pretty much exactly the same stuff at the Golden Globes).. My only hope is that Heath Ledger gets the supporting Oscar (which he probably will) and that Kate Winslet doesn't clear off so many of them like she did the Golden Globes (which she probably will). Nothing against her performances (I haven't seen any of the films she's nominated for), I just don't look forward to her going up there and making sappy and somewhat arrogant and bloated speeches again.

If Wanted wins anything that would be.. A new low for the Academy, surely.

Haven't seen enough of the films nominated either, because most of the Oscar-bait is released late in the year, so we don't get that stuff until February/early March here in Norway.

Wow. I've never cared less about the Oscars than i do this year. I don't care at all who wins BP. I haven't seen the Reader, but I'm assuming it doesn't deserve its nomination over The Dark Knigh or The Wrestler.

Poop.

Here's a collection I made with all the nominated features: 81st Academy Awards: Nominated (meaning it doesn't include short films, or documentary shorts).

So now you can quickly see which are the ones you should go see ;).

I haven't even heard of Waltz with Bashir, yet it has a tier nine PSI (joint second under TDK).

Obviously underhyped....LOLOLOLOL

i'm in the minority that hates waltz with bashir.. sure hope it doesn't win. i've seen The Class and loved it, no way is WIB better.

Complete fail for the Oscars. Bruce didn't even get a nom for best song.

"I don't think we need another film about the Holocaust, do we? It's like, how many have there been? You know? We get it. It was grim. Move on. No, I'm doing it because I've noticed that if you do a film about the Holocaust, you're guaranteed an Oscar.... 'Schindler's Bloody List,' 'Pianist' -- Oscars comin' outta their arse."

After last year (when both There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men, my favorite movies of the year, were nominated), this is really disappointing. My reaction to Milk is mostly "meh," my distaste for Slumdog is well-documented, and I have no hope that The Reader or the Ron Howard-helmed Frost/Nixon are any good. Thus, I'm really hoping that when I see Benjamin Button tonight, I'll find something to root for.

The nominations for Supporting Actor are actually quite great, by the way.

Par for the course, haven't seen any of the foreign films yet. Hopefully, now they'll finally come my way.
