TV Shows?

Postby HeyDingo on Mon Mar 19, 2012 1:06 am

Does anyone else think it would be nice to have TV shows on here?
Not like IMDB where you rate the entire show. Instead rate the individual seasons. I've always wanted a site which rated seasons as lots of shows tend to have some rather poor seasons and others that are fantastic.

For those who don't like it maybe the option to turn them on and off so those who just want movies will just see movies. Just a thought.

This topic has been discussed several times. I dunno if mpowell has ever said anything more committal than "this is something we're considering for the future".

I personally don't see the need, and think it will only make maintenance of the database a nightmare....but lots of people seem to want this feature.

The popular opinion is that many people, including myself, would like a Criticker-style TV recommendation engine, but completely separate. The problem that comes up though is whether to do it by episode, season, or series.

I personally wouldn't mind having both but I get that some people want strictly movies or perhaps even TV shows. But there is always the chance they could have a "Turn TV/Movie Recommendations ON/OFF" button for that.

As for episode, season, series. I think episodes would be much too tedious as where there is so many and having to rate them would be difficult unless you have just recently watched them. Series I think would be too broad where there is so much to some series and you might not like every season of the show. Seasons however (at least to me) feel more like a movie for the most part. They usually tell one story and for the most part resolve whatever conflict happens at the end of the season making the seasons after it similar to sequels.

However I have no idea how difficult this would actually be to do so I'm not going to act like it NEEDS to be done. If they choose to eventually add a feature like this, then awesome. Either way the site is still amazing and kudos to those that keep it up and running.

I've been in support for this idea since the beginning and still hope it gets taken under more serious consideration. I'd also like to see Criticker, or sites like Criticker, expand into other mediums such as video games. I haven't found something as organized and customizable as Criticker for such things, so I continue to support expansions beyond films in the forums here.

Would have no issue with a separate tv forum, but I'm totally against implementing tv show ratings with film ratings

I think adding TV shows would be very interesting from a filmmaker perspective. A lot of actors are in both Movies and TV Shows.

It's not listed as a mini-series on imdb - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1942613/
