View All Films, Order By

Postby mwgerb on Sat Jul 16, 2011 10:22 pm

When I go to view all the films, the PSI / Scores don't appear anymore unless I specifically order it by PSI, and as snallygaster pointed out in another thread, putting it in order by the number of rankings doesn't work at all. It also stopped showing the scores of movies I already ranked and just shows their PSI (which may have a bit of an upside; it makes it easier for me to see how my TCIs rank all the other movies, which makes sense looking at all the films).

And here's another weird quirk I stumbled upon: there aren't actually 60 movies in the following picture.
Image

It's not totally legible, but I'm looking at "Drama or Crime or Action or Mystery" movies. If something is in more than one of those, like the Dark Knight, it gets counted every time. It doesn't happen when your looking at movies in all of those selected, or at movies from your own rankings (although there are other problems with my rankings list).

And while I'm complaining, the "Order By" tab for all movies has been broken for a while. When you're viewing your rankings, and click "Order By", and then click "All Films" before clicking "apply", it appears as
* Name
* Year /\ * Year \/
* # Rankings
* Date Added

Rather than the more useful list you get after you're already looking at all the films
* Name
* Year /\ * Year \/
* PSI/Ranking
* # Rankings

Heh, while mpowell certainly did warn us in his last blog entry about "Updates to the Film Database", it's quite astonishing the sheer number of gremlins that have managed to get through.

That's a pretty clever bug you spotted though, mwgerb; I hadn't noticed before you brought it up.

The problem with films appearing duplicate times should be resolved now... we're getting closer!

Thanks! The site seems to be back to normal (and a bit faster)!

Any chance of getting the Order By "Date Added"/"PSI Ranking" inconsistency fixed? It doesn't really affect the site, it's just been bugging me for a long time.

We've got the order-by thing listed as a future enhancement... hopefully we'll find time to get to it soon!

I noticed that you added this feature. Awesome, thanks! It's a tiny change that makes things a lot more comfortable.
