iron man

Postby Jellysauce on Sat May 03, 2008 5:27 pm

who has seen this? i thought it was alright. i was expecting so much more out of this probably because it was hyped out of its ass. but still it was fun to go see. and seeing Samuel L Jackson as nick fury was amazing.

on a side note: whats up with KGB calling stan lee's cameo an annoyance? i love seeing him in these movies. and how annoying can it be if he is only in this movie for seconds? haha oh well.

I wasn't expecting a bit even though the kick-ass trailer (and maybe because of it), and it was pure fun. Really one of the best superhero films out there.
And Stan Lee is annoying. Leave alone his real, possibly-senile, old-bastard-with-too-much-money-in-his-hands persona (have you seen his reality show? Jesus Christ!), the man just can't act. One line of his is enough to get me pissed off, and now just seeing his cameo makes me want to shoot my eyes out.

haha thats probably valid. and i know that feeling of wanting to shoot my eyes out. Gwyneth Paltrow screaming at the end fight was so bad...

The end fight was quite lousy in general (one kid behind me even began crying and saying that Iron Man is dead, even after he saw him alive later), but besides that, the action scenes were superb. The escape scene was awesome but a little cheesy, and Iron Man vs. F-22s kicked some fucking serious ass.

oh yeah for sure that flight scene was amazing and it was probably my favorite part. i also really liked when he blew up that tank.

i thought it was awesome how he had shot at the tank, started walking away then the tank blew up.

See, I thought the end fight had to be the best climatical fight scene out of any superhero movie. Then again, this is comparing superhero movies, so it's not like we're comparing works of art here. My biggest gripe with the film other than Gwenyth Paltrow was the technology. Yeah, sure, Stark's insanely smart and good with technology and revolutionized everything, but his little drawing thing was what bothered me the most. Not Jarvey, not the rest of everything else in the house-all of that I could believe as just some really smart really bored really rich guy's fun toys, but the holographic blueprint thing that he could turn with a flick of his fingers? that's what got to me.

Stan Lee was...meh. I've grown to expect him to show up, and I have to respect the man as a comics fan anyway.

But the best part of this film wasn't the rad fight scenes, or the really awesome robots and special effects-witch for CGI were very very well done, it was the acting. At least on Downey Jr.'s and Bridge's part. Bridges being the perfect badguy-the smooth talking backstabbing sort of dude was absolutely perfect, and Downey Jr proves once again that despite his bad rap he is an amazingly talented actor.

It's a film that can stand as a good film even in the ranks of real films, and a film that tops the list of action and superhero movies.

I agree and already mentioned that in my mini-review - the technology was too hard to believe even for a superhero film. I want that robot.

I squealed when I saw Samuel L. Jackson as Fury. That was awesome.

As for the rest of it, I really enjoyed it. I thought the casting was spot on; especially Robert Downey Jr. and Jeff Bridges. They were amazing. I'm looking forward to the sequel because I am a bit of a Marvel nerd.

Dang, this is one film I'm pissed at having not seen yet. And when people say the soundtrack is terrible, are they referring to "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath or something else? That song kicks ass.
