1.Martin Scorsese
2.David Fincher
3. Quentin Tarantino
4.Christopher Nolan
5.Terry Gilliam

Scorsese for me is the master of all film makers. His films are always good, no matter who he casts. His recent work with Dicaprio was able to turn Dicaprio from his Titanic image into oscar worthy in no matter what he does. David Fincher has had some bad films but because he is the director of the film I have seen the most "Fight Club" he gets the second spot on my list. I wrestled with the other three, Tarantino is a classic film maker, Nolan continues to amaze with his brilliance and Gilliam has had his fair share of criticism over the years and yet he still continues to make films as he sees fit.

1. Béla Tarr
2. Ingmar Bergman
2. Jean-Luc Godard
2. Andrei Tarkovski
2. Federico Fellini
Picking my 5 all-time favorites is rather easy, even though it hurts to leave some people out who have done many great movies those 5 have done more great movies than my other favorites. Putting them in order is impossible, though, so they're even.

Only have 3 definite choices at the moment.

Werner Herzog
Stanley Kubrick
Terrence Malick

Honorable Mentions; Martin Scorsese, David Lynch, Orson Welles, Joel & Ethan Coen

Have only recently watched two Ingmar Bergman films and they are both utterly brilliant, so once I see a few more, I expect him to crash into my top 5 (well er 3 at the moment). Same goes with Andrei Tarkovsky.
