Pre 1970

Vampyr (1932)
M (1931)
Late Spring (1949)
Macbeth (1948)
This Sporting Life (1963)
Kes (1969)
Metropolis (1927)
Alfie (1966)

You can watch Vampyr, M, and much more on YouTube nowadays, you bastards.

Original cutoff was 1992, and O Lucky Man! (1973) drew the widest, wryest smile.

Very honorable mentions:

The Profound Desire of the Gods (1968)
The Open Road (1926)
Play Time (1967)
The Pumpkin Eater (1964)

Pre-2000 movies from top two tiers:
1. Apocalypse Now (1979)
2. Winter Light (1962)
3. Stop Making Sense (1984)
4. Through a Glass Darkly (1961)
5. Stroszek (1977)
6. Ikiru (1952)
7. Videodrome (1983)
8. Cobra Verde (1987)
9. Chinatown (1974)
10. The Killing (1956)
11. Solaris (1972)
12. Happiness (1998)
13. Dial M for Murder (1954)

I didn't see too many older films this year, so in the last month I've been actively trying to watch more and rewatch and rate all the old shorts that I saw before in film classes and didn't rate.
