I'm looking for an old b&w film (50's maybe), I really can't remember the actors, but I'm sure the protagonists were very famous when the film was shot.
The actress plays a lower-middle class girl who lives with her parents and falls in love with a rich and well-known (in their town) man, who, I think, is engaged to one of her friends. Her father does not work and her mother pushes him to use some patent of his to make some kind of glue (though not sure about the glue, maybe it was something else...) Because of her not so good means, she lies to the man she likes and tries to look independent and free. A scene keeps coming to my mind that she waits for him to visit her at home and she keeps arranging the flowers in the vase, but he never comes, so she gets really disappointed about it, falling asleep, while her mother tries to console her. I think she has a brother too, but I'm not really sure either, because it's been quite some time since I watched the movie...
I'd really appreciate any help!!
