Roads Less Traveled:
1. Robert Preston as the Music Man: maybe the most underrated performance ever
2. Catherine Keener as Harper Lee in "Capote": not a big role, but a great one
3. W.C. Fields as Cuthbert J. Twillie in "My Little Chickadee": comic genius
4. Nick Nolte as Tom Wingo in "Prince of Tides": his best performance in a movie that had its problems
5. Mary Steenburgen as Sister Ida in "The Grass Harp": stole the show from a cast of greats
6. Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth Salandar in the "Dragon" trilogy: the queen of movie detective fiction
7. Fred Willard as Ron Albertson in "Waiting for Guffman": the dinner was the winner
8. Burt Lancaster as Lou in "Atlantic City": great performance in a fine movie that has been lost in time

Big Time, Deservedly:
1. Charlize Theron as Aileen Wuornos in "Monster": Best Actress Oscar, Best Performance Ever?
2. Spencer Tracy as Henry Drummond (Clarence Darrow) in "Inherit the Wind": gets your blood boiling
3. Peter Sellers as several people in "Dr. Strangelove": sneakiest, most subversive movie of all time
4. Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch in "To Kill a Mockingbird": a lesson on man's best possibilities
5. Uma Thurman as The Bride in the "Kill Bill" series: could anyone else have played that role?
6. John Belushi as Joliet Jake Blues in "The Blues Brothers": he's dead, and I'm still laughing
7. Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins: almost perfect in every way
8. Humphrey Bogart as Charlie Allnut in "The African Queen": well, I had to pick one his roles

Without too much thought:

The Dude (obviously) from The Big Lebowski
Marty McFly from Back to the Future
Ellen Ripley from the Alien series
Peter Venkman from Ghostbusters
Indiana Jones from his movies
Elwood P. Dowd from Harvey
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid from their movie
