The Dark Knight Rises

So the trailer's out. So's a 5 minute prologue in certain IMAX theaters similar to what was released before TDK (the bank heist). You can probably find a poor quality clip if you look around.

I have to say there's a feeling of being underwhelmed this time round, seeing as the hype for TDK was the most intense I can remember. I'm definitely looking forward to Tom Hardy's Bane, no matter what you think of the movie itself Bronson demonstrated he is perfect for the role. Anne Hathaway's Catwoman, not so much, as I don't see room for improvement over Pfeiffer's portrayal. But hey, people said that about the Joker too.

This will hopefully keep the scope and moral tone of the previous films though Gotham City itself could use some more flavor. Batman Begins seemed to have some of this what with the asylum and the Narrows but in TDK Gotham was totally generic. Also if Nolan keeps the frenetic, constant-action-climax feel of TDK it's going to be pretty exhausting without Ledger to distract you.

Maybe we can get another blockbuster trilogy besides LOTR that doesn't feel like an unnecessary cash grab?

Tom Hardy is a fucking amazing actor, though. He can pull off his role without breaking a sweat. I knew Heath Ledger as a very good actor from pictures like "Two Hands" and "10 Things I Hate about You" before "The Dark Knight", too. Anne Hathaway? She fucking sucks, and can't act to save her life. Her portrayal will probably be terrible.

I think Nolan has a completely unique talent for making incredibly exciting popcorn blockbusters.

"Batman Begins" was shit, "The Dark Knight" was great, and I expect that on his directing talent alone, Nolan will get the third one to be at least "good". I think it will probably be the worst picture he has made in the last 6 years (since "Batman Begins"), but still good.

Bane looks sweet. Anne Hathaway has me worried too...does she think she's badass or something?

I recently saw the prolog (which was bad ass, but fall short of being as bad ass as the opening sequence to TDK).

I've always been a huge fan of Tom Hardy, but he's got a hard act to follow.

Firstly, from a Batman Villain perspective, Bane is no Joker.
The Joke is the ultimate Batman Villain, which will make this new movie character hard to top the last.

Second, I'm not to sure about the get-up they gave Hardy for Bane.
I really liked the way they portrayed the Joker, with really good makeup.

With Bane, they may have gone over-the-top with the mask...

I'm still very excited about this film, and will be looking forward to catching it next year.

If we go into this film comparing Bane to The Joker, we're setting ourselves up for a fall. I was nervous about the announcement of Bane as the main villain, because, well, Bane? But his get-up isn't too outrageous (staying true to the comic book would have been outrageous, what with the Mexican wrestling mask and the venom pumps and tubes), and the one line he speaks in the trailer is epic enough to get me excited. If Nolan is going to kill off Batman, which doesn't seem out of the question at this point, I don't think there's a more fitting villain than the one who broke the bat.

She's very, very good at showing off her breasts/body.

Hopefully the action sequences are more Inception than Batman Begins this time around.

Yes, while the Comic Book Character may have required "venom pumps and tubes" on his back, the face looks much more like Nacho Libre.

The funny Dark Knight Rises spoof in my head might comprise of Jack Black as Vane. ;)

Anyway, my main point is that i would have liked to see more of Hardy's Face.
In his most recent film (which I saw)Warrior, he looks like a bad-ass villain with no mask needed.

To be totally honest, I still preferred Jack Nicholson as the Joker even though Ledger did it fantastically. For the reason I think that will make me enjoy this one more because it would pretty much be impossible to like the Batman and Robin style Bane more. I know a few comic book people who will be unhappy that Bane isn't a little bigger with some tubes, but I like it. I also think if Hathaway gets partly/mostly nude at some point and shows some cleavage as Catwoman her purpose in the movie will be served.
