Any chance of pinning this thread, or my (or somebody's) comprehensive list from it of 2012 movies to the top of the forum?

This looks decent from the trailer. I've liked Hillcoat's other films I've seen. Good cast. Hell I'm hoping for something similar in style as The Proposition just in a crime/gangster genre. Although Shia is in this, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, and Guy Pearce should do plenty to combat that.

OK, things have just gotten out of hand. There are two movies titled Lawless, this one set for a 31 August release, the other one being a Terrence Malick movie with Rooney Mara, Ryan Gosling and Natalie Portman currently being filmed for release in 2013. Malick, normally coming out with a movie once every 5 years, also has an Untitled (is that the title?) romantic drama with Rachel McAdams, Ben Affleck and Michael Sheen, in post-production supposedly being released in 2012....sometime(???). AND Malick also has a drama (?) in post-production with Brad Pitt and Emma Thompson narrating the birth and death of the universe but delayed from an initial 2012 release to 2013.

W..........T...........F..........?

This Lawless does look good to me too, by the way, and FWIW I usually like LaBeouf.

I don't inherently dislike LaBeouf, but he's been in a lot of mediocre/shitty movies. He better really pull out some unseen talent in Lawless, or he'll really suffer in comparison to the stellar cast.

It seems Malick has become aware of his mortality and is rushing to say everything he wants to say while he has the ability to.

Either that or he has bills to pay, and given the box office for The Tree of Life, He's doing three romantic dramas (Untitled, Lawless and now Knight of Cups with Christian Bale, Natalie Portman and Wes Bentley in pre-production for a 2013 release as well  :o ) in order to fund Voyage of Time (aka Tree of Life-2 ?). I'm leanin' toward that theory.

Hollywood stuff I'm actually excited for: Prometheus, Brave, Dark Knight Rises, The Amazing Spider-Man

I decided to try and give mainstream contemporary film another shot after really enjoying (and probably overrating) The Avengers.

Wait, you're talking about the franchise whose producers fired Sam Raimi because he wanted more time to write a decent script and shoot quality scenes, and was unhappy and frustrated with the crap he had to put out with Spiderman 3? The same producers than then decided the easiest way to do this would be to re-make a film from 2003 and go back to when Peter Parker was in high school, so they can go after an even younger demographic? The franchise that is taking a lot of cues from teen films like Twilight?

Did I miss something?
