Let-down endings

Postby by Devol on Sat Apr 28, 2012 4:06 am

endings that were predictable/incoherent/unresolved (in a detrimental way)/shaggy dog

Reservoir Dogs (three-way shooting at the same time? come on)

Easy Rider (no, I don't have ANY kind of hippie in me)

Aloha Bobby and Rose

Altered States

Easy Rider was the ultimate lame ending. Oh and anything that ends with "it was all a dream"

Paranormal Activity. Don't even get me STARTED on that one. :)

I saw that movie for the first time yesterday and thought the ending was great. What exactly rubbed you the wrong way?

It was like the writers ran out of ideas or couldn't think of a decent way to end it. It's been a while since I've seen it, but I seem to recall the
Spoiler: show
random drive-by shooting of the bikers
seemed cheap and completely out of the blue.

That being said, I thought Easy Rider was a pretty good flick.

Other bad endings:
High Tension
Quarantine (REC remake)
The Forgotten (this whole movie was stupid, but the ending was beyond retarded)

I felt totally let down by the ending of Signs (Shyamalan).

Blasphemy. How can you not love Daniel Day-Lewis tearing into Paul Dano? That is probably one of my favorite endings, but hey to each their own.

Just out of curiosity, I googled "good movies with bad endings" and after scrolling through several of the articles it hit on, "There Will Be Blood" has shown up on a lot of bad ending lists. I haven't seen it myself so I can't comment, but it seems to be a fairly common complaint.

Just saw LIKE CRAZY. Good film, but the ending definitely fits into this category.
