what's your top five favorite revenge films?

"Revenge" films could encapsulate a pretty wide range of movies...or you could be referring to a specific subgenre of exploitation films.

Real movies where revenge is a major theme:
1) Sympathy for Mr Vengeance (#6 in my Top 10)
2) Eight Diagram Pole Fighter (#10 in my Top 10)
3) Conan the Barbarian
4) The Outlaw Josey Wales
5) City of God

Exploitation revenge films:
1) Ms .45
2) Last House on the Left (the original one)
3) Vigilante
4) Lady Snowblood
5) I Spit on your Grave (the original one)

I don't think it's necessarily exploitation films at all. I classify them as where the hero/anti-hero/good guys go out of their way to exact justice beyond simple contention or attempt to escape/rescue.

I guess it shouldn't be surprised that I didn't have one in common with the Denizen

Once Upon a Time in the West is also in my all time Top 10 and I considered including it. I ultimately decided not to because only one of the several plot lines in the film is really about revenge. But it's an awesome movie.

The best revenge film and probably my favorite film of all time has to be The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou. Actually if you think about Wes Anderson slips revenge into a lot of his movies.

Lots of good ones listed,

1) Gladiator (hands down number one) - Crowe @ his best
2) Brave-heart - Mel @ his best
3) Time to Kill - I love Jacksons epic one liner - "yes they deserved to die, i hope they burn in hell"
4) Fracture - This is a good revenge movie gone bad.. without the epic and predictable spoiler at the end, this would have been a great flick
5) Kill Bill - a bit predictable, almost purposefully created by QT on this list, however still a spectacular series.

I saw some others listed but don't think they've revenge - "godfather," give me a break.
A great movie, but by no means a revenge movie.
