edkrak wrote:That's a very amateurish conspiracy discussion. Don't forget that all your arguments are irrelevant until you prove that Clooney is Jewish or even better - part of a hidden zionist government and responsible for Hollywood propaganda. First things first.

So true.

CMonster wrote:I wouldn't necessarily discount that Clooney has a prominent position within the Vampire hierarchy. To keep going with the chess analogy he may be much more than a pawn, maybe even a rook or a queen.

8-) Don't think that thought hasn't crossed my mind more than once, that the string of women he's seen with are nothing more than escorts. All this being said, he's still responsible for one of my all time favorite roles, Ulysses Everett McGill in O Brother: Where Art Thou. Even the title is suggestive. But it's a lot easier to read the body language between the lines concerning power brokering in public, than it is to see what's going on in the closet, which is admittedly none of my business in the first place.

Which begs another question, how many sham marriages are there in Hollywood? (Hmmm, so much for being none of my business, but then we are talking deceit here.)

Just when I thought I was getting a handle on the topic, although I did sort of imply that with the "producer of record" qualification I used.

kgbelliveau wrote:Yup. Because the golden statues taken home by the producers of The Artist were mailed to George Clooney after the show (sarcasm, in case anyone missed it).

But the sarcasm is only applicable if it isn't true.

There's so much evidence of Clooney's power in Hollywood and the Academy that you're ignoring if you're seriously denying that he runs the show. Think about his most recent films. Remember how The Descendants improbably won Best Picture and he improbably won Best Actor for his performance. Or how, in the very same year, he also won Best Actor for The Ides of March, another Best Picture winner. Not to mention the Best Adapted Screenplay award he won for the same movie. And when he got Fantastic Mr. Fox the award for Best Animated Picture. The truth is there for those who care to see it.

You do realize that George Clooney was not a producer on The Descendants, nor did he have any involvement in the Screenplay. Google is a valuable tool. The Descendants didn't win best picture at the Academy Awards, The Artist did. Your theory is gone. It doesn't make sense. Do some research. Clooney didn't win a best adapted Screenplay award because he didn't write The Descendants. Nat Faxon, Jim Rash and Alexander Payne did.

It seems you may have missed my point...

(Also, for the writing, I was referring to The Ides of March, not The Descendants)

Exactly what coherent point are you making. So far I read a bunch of jumble about how Clooney is involved in everything when it has been proven countless times he isn't. Ides of March did not win best adapted Screenplay, nor did it win best picture at the Academy Awards and he did not win best actor for his performance in that movie. So I must ask, where did you get your facts?

I was being sarcastic. All of the awards I pointed out were recent films that Clooney was involved in. That none of the awards I described were actually awarded is evidence against this "Clooney runs Hollywood" conspiracy theory. Pointing out so many instances where the "Clooney machine" didn't do what it supposedly does so well helps to illustrate why the cherry picked data points (aka, just Argo) are a weak foundation for the conspiracy theory. That I did so in a sarcastic way which confused you is my fault.

tl;dr We're on the same side here

Y'know that fits. Ulysses as the leader of the Soggy Bottom Boys singin' A Man of Constant Sorrow. I'd be glad to provide the yodel accompani...accompani...yodel backup.
