I would love to contribute to this topic, but the only "movies" I watched were Too Many Cooks (which rocked) and the Steam-produced documentary Free to Play (decent) about a million dollar DOTA 2 tournament.

With that in mind,

Chris Kelly

Actor
Crazy, Stabby Serial Killer in Too Many Cooks (official name)

Documentary
Free to Play

I'm sure you meant "listen" instead of "see" for "The Theory of Everything";

Random excellent song from the 90 minute album;

Oh yeah my brother made me watch Free to Play. I don't really care if it was an ad for DOTA. All ads should be 90 minute character study documentaries. I love documentaries.

Wasn't "Too Many Cooks" that thing on Adult Swim? I did see it but i don't smoke weed so I feel like I can't fully appreciate it, as funny as it was. Plus, i'm trying to only rank feature films on this site from now on. Comedy shorts and stand up specials are things that I'd only ever bother to rank if I loved them, so that shit was fucking up my tiers. And also,only the great ones get submitted to this site. No one is submitting the latest Carlos Mencia special, or the bit that bombed on Adult Swim at 2am. Only the great stuff that is a lock to nestle in at tier 8/9.

Best Pics I saw in 2014-the films that were T10 excluding stand-up comedy and shorts
Pi-1998
The Conversation-1974
The Silence of the Lambs-1991
The Wolf of Wall Street-2013
Silver Linings Playbook-2012
The Elephant Man-1980
Se7en-1995
Blue Ruin-2014

Best Pic from 2014
Blue Ruin
Note: I saw Birdman once and feel like I need to rewatch it because the tv had fucked up sound and I don't think I could give it a fair score.Also applies to previous category.

Most Enjoyable Theater Experience
John Wick
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Guardians of the Galaxy

Most Overrated
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Boyhood
Interstellar-Would win most overrated theater experience. The sound was poorly done and came out horribly in the theater.

Most Confusing
I, Frankenstein
How did this get greenlit? Who thought the giant budget was worth it? Why did I watch it? So many questions with no good answers.

I've never smoked weed in my life, and still found it really funny. In fact, several current/former weed smokers I talked to didn't like it as much as I did.

I remember a popular 2013 Oscar sentiment being: 'Why did Robert De Niro get nominated for BS Actor? I guess it was due to his legacy.'

When in my opinion, he carried the best acted scene of 2012: http://streamable.com/1qiq

The theme song to Too Many Cooks has been stuck in my head since the minute I heard it. And to back up your opinion (maybe?), here's a video of various elders reacting to TMC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kB1nnxwvCFs

I know that this statement will be a bit hypocritical due to my own Crit-cademy Award nominations not including Richard Linlater, but I can totally understand him as a Best Director nominee when you consider the job description of a film director. That being: to conceive and carry out a particular vision. Corralling and achieving a 12 year vision is inherently more difficult than doing the same for a 4 month project. High degree of difficulty is a distinctive attribute, but based on the finished product, not something he achieved particularly well IMO.
